Day-by-day itinerary
Day1Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
Pick-up at 8:00 am and a crossing of the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass. An argan oil cooperative and the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. After lunch, Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Africa, with an optional visit to Taourirt Kasbah or the film studios. Dinner and overnight in a riad.
Day2Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Alnif – Merzouga Dunes
Drive through the Draa Valley, with its mud-brick kasbahs and Berber villages, to Alnif, known for its fossil finds. In the afternoon we arrive in Merzouga for welcome tea and a dromedary caravan to the camp. Sunset in the dunes, dinner and Berber music. Night in a haima (Berber tent).
Day3Merzouga – Nomad Visit – Khamlia – Merzouga
Sunrise in the dunes. By 4×4 we drive around Erg Chebbi along the old Paris-Dakar Rally track, with stops at the Tissardmin oasis and a nomad settlement. Gnawa music concert and lunch in Khamlia. Afternoon at a family-run guesthouse. Overnight in a riad.
Day4Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Departure for Rissani and Erfoud to visit the fossilised marble factory. The palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, then arrival at the Todra Gorges. In the afternoon, the Dades Valley via Boumalne. Dinner and overnight in a riad.
Day5Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, the Valley of the Roses and the Skoura palm grove. Visit Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate, lunch and a crossing of the Atlas with panoramic stops. Arrival in Marrakech in the late afternoon or evening.
